Getting started
Filmina runs in the browser: there is nothing to download and nothing to install. You sign in with your email and study in the same tab, on a computer, a tablet or a phone.
Signing in
- Open the web app in an up-to-date browser: Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. That first screen is where you pick the app's language, Spanish or English.
- Type your email. Signing in and creating an account are the same step, and there is no password to invent or remember.
- A 6-digit code arrives by email and expires after 15 minutes. If it does not show up, you ask for another one from the same screen.
- You stay signed in on that browser. If you go 60 days without using it, the session ends on its own and you sign in again with a new code.
The first time
If the account is new, Filmina asks your name, so Mina knows what to call you, and welcomes you with a greeting. After that, the first time you reach each screen, Mina walks you through it in a short tour that points at the real interface: where to bring your deck, where to take notes, your folders and the minutes you have left. You can close it at any step and watch it again from Settings.
To begin, bring in a deck: drag it onto the window or, on a phone, pick it with a tap. If you do not have one yet, open a note and transcribe the class.
On your home screen
You can add Filmina to your home screen like any other app: it opens in its own window, without the browser bar.
- On Android, and in Chrome or Edge on a computer, the browser installs it. Filmina offers it with a prompt once you have used it a bit, and it is always in Settings, under Install Filmina.
- On iPhone and iPad, from Safari: tap Share (on iPhone it may be inside •••), choose Add to Home Screen and then Add. Filmina shows you those steps in a short guide.
- Inside another app, such as Instagram or TikTok, it cannot be done: open it in Safari or Chrome first.
On iPhone and iPad, notification reminders only arrive with Filmina on your home screen.
Apps for Mac, Windows, iPhone and iPad are on the way. Until they land, Filmina runs in the browser.
Free and Pro
Filmina Free asks for no card. It comes with 60 minutes of explanation to get started and, after that, 20 minutes a month. Plus:
- Up to 10 documents, with the first 100 slides of each one read.
- 30 questions to Mina a month and one practice session per document a month.
- One hour of class transcription a month.
- One device at a time.
Filmina Pro raises the limits: 15 hours of explanation a month, unlimited documents read in full, 300 questions a month, 10 hours of transcription a month and two devices at a time. What it costs where you live is on the home page. You cancel it from the app, and Pro carries on until the end of the period you paid for.
Listening again to something already generated does not use minutes. How much you have left of each thing is in your account, inside the app.
Your devices
What you study follows your account: your lectures, your notes and where you left off are there on any device you sign in from. What has a limit is how many can be signed in at once: one on Free and two on Pro. If you sign in on one too many, the session on the one you used least gets closed. Settings shows you where your account is signed in.
