Account and plans

Filmina has two plans: Free, which needs no card and doesn't expire, and Pro, which is billed monthly and raises the limits. Here are each plan's numbers, what you see when you hit a limit and everything you manage from Settings.

Free and Pro

Both plans have the same features. What changes is how much of each you get:

What each plan includes
WhatFreePro
Mina's explanations60 welcome minutes, once, then 20 minutes a month15 hours a month
Open presentations10No limit
Slides per presentationThe first 100 are explainedAll of them
Questions to Mina30 a month300 a month

Record class and dictation1 hour a month10 hours a month
Devices at once12
PriceNothing, no cardUS$8 a month; in Argentina, ARS 9,999 a month

How each one is counted:

How much you have left

On Free, the account row at the bottom of the sidebar shows your plan and the minutes you have left: for example Free · 12 min left, or Free · no minutes left. Clicking the minutes opens the Go Pro screen.

In Filmina settings › Subscription, Explanation minutes shows what you've used with a bar (the welcome minutes you have left, or this month's and when they reset) and, below it, this month's questions.

When you're running low on minutes, a card on Home shows what's left with a More minutes button. If you also have an exam in the next seven days, the card says so: Don't run out of minutes before your subject exam.

When you hit a limit

When you run out of something, Filmina tells you what ran out and offers a button that carries on with what you were doing, instead of a generic “Go Pro”. On Free, that button opens the Pro screen; on Pro, when it's a monthly limit, the button is Recharge Pro.

What you see at each limit and which button shows up
LimitWhat you seeButton
Explanation minutesIn the viewer: You've used this month's explanation minutes. You can keep listening to what Mina already explained.Keep listening, or Recharge Pro if you're already on Pro
Slides (Free)When you bring the slides in, a line says how many there are and that the first 100 are read. On the last one, Filmina Free ends here and how many are left unexplained.See every slide
Presentations (Free)When you upload or start a presentation and already have 10 open: No free presentations left. The button to go Pro
Questions to MinaIn the chat: You've used this month's questions., with the date they come back. The question you'd typed isn't lost.Keep asking, or Recharge Pro if you're already on Pro
Practice (Free)Your practice is ready, with the first question visible but locked.Practice now, or Pick another to practice a different file
Record class and dictationWhen you're running low, how much time you have left this month. When it runs out: You've used this month's hours of dictation and recorded classes.Record without limits, or Recharge Pro if you're already on Pro
Devices at onceThe device you used least gets signed out, with the notice Your account was opened on another device.None: sign in again with your email whenever you want

The practice limit doesn't leave you empty-handed: Mina still builds the practice you asked for, so you can see what it's like before deciding. Each file gets its own free practice a month, so Pick another lets you practice a file you haven't practiced yet.

If you go Pro from a limit with something already set up, the top of the payment screen says Your practice is waiting or Your question is waiting. Once the payment is approved, the final button says Start the practice or Keep asking, and does just that: it starts the practice or sends Mina the question that got cut off.

Going Pro

You get there from the account menu (Go Pro, with the weekly cost below it), from Filmina settings › Subscription, from the minutes in the account row, or from the button at any limit. There's no free trial: the Free plan is the way to try Filmina.

It's a full screen. The title says what you unlock, depending on where you opened it from (Practice without limits, Ask Mina without limits, More hours of explanations, Record all your classes, Every slide, no cap) or, if you opened it from the menu, Walk into every exam with everything studied. Below, four cards compare Pro with your plan: files, slides per file, questions a month and devices at once, with the Free number crossed out. Then comes the Monthly plan (Cancel anytime) and the Continue with Pro · … a month button, with who handles the payment below it.

Top up Pro: the month's limits start over with a single payment. Who charges you, and in what currency, depends on where you are.

With Mercado Pago there's one more step: Which email do you use for Mercado Pago?, with your account's email already filled in. Automatic debit is set up on the Mercado Pago account with that email, so if you pay with a different one, change it there.

Payment happens on the provider's page and you come back to Filmina when you're done. Meanwhile, the screen tells you where things stand:

Who handles payment

Which one you get depends on your browser's time zone. Filmina never sees or stores your card details: the payment provider handles them. The current price in your currency is on the home page.

Recharge Pro

Recharging is for when you're on Pro and ran out of something before it renews. It adds another month of limits within the same month: This month's limits start over today. Explanation hours, questions to Mina and transcription hours all start over. It's a single payment that lasts until the end of the month: US$5, or ARS 6,999 in Argentina.

On Pro, Recharge Pro is always in the account menu and in Filmina settings › Subscription, and it shows up by itself when you hit a monthly limit. The screen says Recharge your Pro, shows what starts over and has the Recharge · … button with the price. Once approved: Your limits started over.

The daily limit can't be recharged: if that's the one you hit, just wait a while.

Filmina settings

Open them from the account menu: on a computer, by clicking your name at the bottom of the sidebar; on a phone, by tapping your account at the top left. Then choose Settings. The screen is called Filmina settings and has, in this order:

Filmina settings, at the subscription: the month's minutes and questions, notifications, emails and devices.
  1. Language: Español or English. It changes the language of the whole app.
  2. Theme: Match system, Dark or Light.
  3. Tutorial › Watch again: shows the first-time tours again.
  4. Install Filmina, when the browser allows it: Install or How. It's explained in First steps.
  5. Account: your email, your plan (Filmina Free or Filmina Pro) and Sign out.
  6. Accessibility: ADHD mode and Dyslexia mode. What each one changes is in Focus.
  7. 8. Notifications › On this device: turns notifications on or off on the device you're using. On iPhone and iPad without Filmina installed, it tells you how to install it, because they don't arrive otherwise.
  9. Emails: four switches, Before each exam, Your week, Study reminders and Filmina news. Emails about your account and your payments always arrive.
  10. Devices: where your account is signed in, like “Chrome on Mac”, with this device marking the one you're on and when each one was last used. More on using Filmina across devices is in Phone and offline.
  11. At the bottom, in small type: Terms of service, Privacy policy and Delete account.

Canceling your subscription

In Filmina settings › Subscription, the Cancel subscription row says how long Pro lasts and has a Cancel button.

Before you confirm, a sheet asks Why do you want to cancel?, with six answers: It's too expensive, I don't use it much, I finished my classes, I switched to another app, Something didn't work and Something else. You can also Continue without answering. Depending on what you pick, Filmina offers you one thing to stay:

The offer for each reason
ReasonWhat it offers
Too expensive, not using it much, switched apps, or no answerWhat if it cost half? Pro at half price for the next two charges, then back to the usual price, with notice first. It also shows what you've built with Filmina: materials, days studying and explanation time. The button is Stay at half price.
You finished your classesShould we pause it until you're back? Pro lasts until the end of what you already paid for (or until after your last exam, if you have one in your study plan), then pauses without charging anything and comes back on its own on the date you pick: the start of next semester, a month after that, or 1 month. We let you know before charging again. The button is Pause.
Something didn't work, or something elseTell us what happened. You write what happened, someone on the team reads it, and you get a free month of Pro: your next charge moves back a month. The button is Send and stay a month for free.

Accepting is optional: Cancel anyway is on every step, the same size as the offer. The offer only shows up if you have the monthly plan renewing, and once every twelve months: if you already accepted one, the sheet goes straight to confirming. The confirmation is Cancel Filmina Pro?, with the Cancel subscription button.

Once you cancel, you won't be charged again. Pro lasts until the end of what you paid for and then the account moves to Free, with everything you saved. You get a request code on screen and by email.

You can also cancel without signing in to the app, from the Cancellation button in the footer of every page on the site: you type your account's email, confirm with a code and it's canceled right away, with no questions and no offers. The legal side is in the terms.

Withdrawal

If you went Pro or bought a recharge and changed your mind, you can ask for a full refund within 14 calendar days of the purchase if you paid in US dollars, or 10 days if you paid in Argentine pesos. No cost and no reasons needed. It applies to the first monthly purchase and to each recharge; automatic renewals don't start a new period.

Ask by email at info@getfilmina.com, from your account's email, with the subject "Withdrawal". You don't need to sign in to the app.

Within 24 hours we reply with a request code. We refund what you paid to the same payment method, and what you bought ends at that moment. The details are in the terms.

Deleting your account

In Filmina settings, at the very bottom, Delete account. A sheet opens telling you what gets deleted, and to confirm it asks you: To confirm, type your account's email. Only once the email is typed correctly does Delete my account become available.

Your account and everything you saved in Filmina are deleted: your files, notes, transcripts, summaries, practice and progress. All your sessions are closed and we email you a confirmation with a request code. It can't be undone. If you had the monthly plan, it's canceled right away and the rest of the period is lost. We only keep the payment records the law requires; the rest is in the privacy policy.

If you're still within the withdrawal period and want your payment back, email us before deleting your account.
